Information Assurance
Information assurance (IA) is the practice of managing and controlling information-related risks. More explicitly, Adviza’s IA practitioners seek to protect and defend information and information systems by ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability.
Information Assurance is ultimately concerned with the confidence that information systems will protect the information they handle and will function as they need to, when they need to, under the control of legitimate users.
Information Assurance focuses on key assets and the impact of their loss. In this context assets are anything that has value to the organisation, its business operations and its continuity. This may include physical assets (paper records, hardware, buildings anything tangible), logical assets (software, coding, backup data), Services (power, aircon, postal), People (staff, contractors, volunteers) and image and reputation. The impact of loss of these assets can range from insignificant to catastrophic.
The threat source which may indirectly impact an organisation may include at the extreme foreign nations, industrial espionage and terrorists but more typically criminal groups, hackers political activists, disgruntled insiders, human error and natural and manmade disaster.
Adviza consultants have strong Intelligence, Defence and Law enforcement backgrounds along with highly regarded Business Continuity Planning experience addressing natural and manmade disaster.
